Pax Autocratica Demo & Prologue: Current Status
Pax Autocratica: Prologue has been retired from the Steam store. See what that means for free trials, existing installs and Demo listings.

Is the free Prologue still available?
The Prologue page now carries a notice: Pax Autocratica: Prologue is no longer available on the Steam store. It was a standalone Windows single-player chapter covering Sector One, published by Multiverse with an API release date of December 1, 2025, and the entry can still be read at Steam. What disappeared is the download path for new players.
If you already installed it, it still launches, so treat it as a historical free sample rather than a current trial. New players have no official free entry point right now: keep the official Prologue page as the only safe reference and recheck it before trusting a mirror or a download site.
Demo versus Prologue
Search results and Steam community posts use “Demo” and “Prologue” interchangeably, but they are not necessarily the same listing. A separate Demo page can be renamed, hidden or replaced as the game moves through development. The Prologue has its own AppID and a clear standalone description, so it is the safer link to keep on a guide page.
Do not assume that a Prologue save, progression route or balance is identical to the paid Early Access build. Compatibility statements can change, and the official listing is the authority for what transfers.
What you can evaluate
The Prologue is useful for testing whether the colony-to-FPS concept suits you. Its store text covers building a totalitarian colony, leading soldiers into Roguelite battles and making choices about captured enemies. It is not a promise that every system, enemy or Core in Early Access is represented.
For a visual preview, the third-party Prologue gameplay video is clearly labeled as gameplay. It is supporting media, not proof of current product availability. Recheck the Steam page before installing because free app pages and builds can change.
A useful trial checklist
If you already own the Prologue, use it to answer three purchase questions: does the colony assignment loop feel understandable, do first-person battles feel readable with your hardware and controls, and do you enjoy a run changing the next colony decision? Do not use it to estimate the full game’s map count, late-game automation or final balance.
FAQ
Is the Prologue the full game?
No. It was a separate free app with a limited portion of the experience, and Steam has since retired it from the store.
Does a Prologue save prove Early Access compatibility?
No. Save transfer and progression rules can change and must be confirmed by the current Steam listing.
Where should I download it?
The official Steam Prologue page is still the only safe reference, but it now shows the not-available notice, so there is no legitimate download path today. Avoid mirrors and executable download sites.
